Commencement Address by Former Texas Governor Ann Richards

The Honorable Ann W. Richards delivered Mount Holyoke's commencement address on Sunday, May 28 in the Richard Glenn Gettell Amphitheatre. Richards, who now works as a senior adviser to the law firm of Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson & Hand, received an honorary Doctor of Laws. Her career has included positions as teacher, civil rights activist, Travis County commissioner, and state treasurer. In 1988 she delivered a memorable keynote address at the Democratic National Convention. As the forty-fifth governor of Texas, Richards instituted successful economic development, education, and anti-crime polices.
