"Preview" Welcomes 300 Admitted Students

Try it, you'll like it! That's the message the admissions staff gave by inviting admitted students to the April 14-16 "Preview" program. About 300 prospective first-year students, most accompanied by at least one parent, are expected to attend events designed to highlight the College's strengths.

"It's the most important on-campus event we do all year," says Macy Hale, assistant director of admissions. Usually about 70 percent of those who come to Preview enroll at MHC, she says. "Accepted students are concerned about whether they'll fit in, and want to sample the campus atmosphere. Normally they're happy with what they see here."

Preview participants stay overnight with student hosts, eat in the residence halls, attend classes, and learn about academic, residential, and social life from special events. Admitted students of color are invited to arrive early for a special introduction to the College community.

Hale encourages everyone to welcome these potential members of the MHC community; a smile or friendly word can make all the difference.
