Students

Declaration of Major

(For juniors and Frances Perkins students) All students with junior status who intend to graduate in May 1998 should have officially declared their majors last spring. Students who have not done so should pick up a Declaration of Major form in the registrar's office, 6 Mary Lyon Hall, and return it with departmental approvals by October 15.

Student Schedules

All students are reminded that schedules are due in the registrar's office by 5 pm, Wednesday, September 18. This is the last day to add a course in any of the Five Colleges (including Mount Holyoke).

Courses at UMass

Students wishing to register for a course at the University of Massachusetts must sign up at the UMass registrar's office, Whitmore Administration Building. Students are warned that no late registration will be accepted for any reason; do not wait until the last day to register.

Course Drops

The last day to drop a course and not have the course, noted DR, recorded on the MHC transcript is Wednesday, September 25, by 5 pm. Beginning September 26, all dropped courses will remain on record.

Ungraded Option

All students are reminded that the ungraded option may be elected only during the first three weeks of classes (except for members of the class of 2000, who have until November 15). Once elected, the option will not be removed after the fifteenth day of classes. The ungraded option cannot be elected for courses taken to meet general degree requirements, which include distribution, language, and the multicultural perspectives requirements; or for courses in the major or minor. Any courses taken under the ungraded option will be counted only as elective credit toward the 128 credits required for the Mount Holyoke degree. The deadline for declaring or changing the ungraded option is Wednesday, September 25.

Career Development Center (CDC)

Examinations

Registrations for the October 26 Optometry Admission Test must be postmarked by September 16.

Registration for the November 16 Veterinary College Admission Test must be received by October 11.

MBA Forums

MBA Forums have the twofold purpose of helping people determine whether the MBA degree would be useful to them and, if so, helping them identify the schools that will best fit their needs. The program includes workshops on admissions procedures, curricula, financial aid, career planning, and job-search strategies in addition to general forum sessions. Sponsored by the Graduate Management Admission Council, forums are offered in various locations this fall: Boston, MA, October 5 at 57 Howard Johnson Hotel; Houston, TX, October 12 at Doubletree Hotel at Post Oak; and Washington, DC, October 25 and 26 at Capital Hilton. There is a $5 registration fee payable at the door. Call 800-537-7982 for more information.

Internships

Have you just returned from a summer internship? Don't forget to call x2080 to schedule a debriefing appointment with an internship counselor. This is required for you to receive transcript notation.
