An island of quiet in a week's hectic noise

Nobue Yamashita, consultant to Wa-Shin-An, demonstrates the traditional Japanese tea ceremony for students every Thursday in Eliot House. "The ceremony is Japanese, but the idea of taking tea in a quiet atmosphere is universal," Yamashita says. "At least once before graduating, I recommend that every student sit in the Japanese Tea House, quietly listening to the sound of water boiling in an iron kettle."
