Web Watch: What's New

If you just can't face the trek across campus to the new MHC Career Development Center (CDC), you can "visit" via the CDC's new home page. It's at this URL: http://www.mtholyoke.edu/offices/careers/main/homepage.htm, and can also be reached from the Campus Information Center's "Offices & Services" section.

This elaborate site is chock-full of information. You can learn how to use the CDC library; select a graduate or professional school (and learn what MHC alumnae think about various schools); and use JobTrak (where 150,000 employers list openings). You can also find lists of fellowships, scholarships, and awards (and application procedures); a calendar of upcoming events; and a rough guide to what CDC programs you should take advantage of during each of your MHC years.

Campus periodicals are also easier than ever to find on the Web, at this URL: http://www.mtholyoke.edu/cic/periodicals.html. The list includes the CSJ, Vista, and The Mount Holyoke News. The News' site, which was mostly student designed, contains the full text of each week's issue and an email link to respond directly to the paper. Editor Stephanie Jones says she believes it is the first women's college weekly paper on the Web.

Applications for admission are also available online. Instead of waiting for mail delivery, prospective first-year and transfer students can print the online version of the appropriate application. Applications are stored in Adobe Acrobat format; a free Acrobat "reader" is available at this URL: http://www.mtholyoke.edu/adm/apps/.

And if you missed the Founder's Day talk by M. Elizabeth Tidball '51, you can hear what she had to say about "Mary Lyon's Vision and the Shaping of Our Priorities" at this URL: http://www.mtholyoke.edu/offices/comm/misc/founders96.html.
