Lyonized--December 1 was an excellent day for MHC in some prime media outlets. The Boston Sunday Herald featured an extensive front-page story on geology professor Mark McMenamin and his theory that previously inexplicable inscriptions on Carthaginian coins may reveal that Carthaginian mariners may have discovered the Americas.
Meanwhile, the Sunday Boston Globe ran an insightful story on the Five College Women's Studies Research Center and its community associates program. In the Sunday New York Times Book Review, historian and intellectual omnivore Joe Ellis reviewed a new book on protean Supreme Court justice John Marshall. While in the Windy City, President Joanne Creighton was featured in a lengthy article in the Chicago Tribune, focusing on (what else?) the vitality of women's institutions of higher education.
