Faculty legislation stipulates that "an instructor may report a student's work as incomplete only if the student has been given an excuse by the Director of the Health Service or the Dean of Studies because of an emergency." This means that instructors may not accept exams or papers due in lieu of exams after noon on Friday, December 20, unless authorized by the Director of the Health Service for medical reasons, or one of the academic deans in the dean of studies' office for unforeseen emergencies. Friday, December 20, at noon is the deadline for students to request authorization for an extension because of incomplete work.
