"Assume Nothing" and You're in for a Treat at the Junior Show; It Opens Today

This year's junior show--titled "Assume Nothing"--aims to take a good-natured swipe at nearly every group on campus without actually offending anyone, according to director Meghan Freed '98. Every night during January, ten writers met to brainstorm ideas and write the script for the twenty-skit musical production. It will be performed in Chapin Auditorium at 8 pm on February 27 and 28 and March 1.

This year's show will become an "equal-opportunity offender" by taking satirical potshots at a wide variety of campus groups, from the equestrian team and Lesbian Bisexual Alliance to the Career Development Center and a cappella singers. Although most of the skits are extremely MHC-specific, according to Freed, some deal with the wider world outside the College gates. For example, the "First Daughter" of the United States makes an appearance. The production will also include four musical numbers, more than in previous shows.

Sixty juniors are now rehearsing the show under the direction of Freed, stage director Rose Pawlikowski, and producers Karen Kortegast and Anna Labykina. Freed promises good-spirited laughs for all from the no-star cast (everyone who auditioned has at least one line). Just don't make any assumptions about what you're going to see--the junior show may surprise you.

This year's junior show promises all the laughs and even more music than previous versions.
