Board of Trustees Approves Recommendations to Tenure, Promote, and Reappoint Faculty

At their March 7-8 meeting, trustees approved recommendations to grant tenure and/or promotion to five professors and reappoint thirteen faculty members to positions with contracts ranging from one to five years.

Granted tenure and promoted to associate professor, effective July 1, were: Satyananda Jordan Gabriel, assistant professor of economics; and Sandra Lawrence, assistant professor of psychology and education.

Promoted to full professor, effective July 1, were: Joan Cocks, associate professor of politics; Giuliana Davidoff, associate professor of mathematics; and Gabriele Davis, associate professor of German.

Reappointed to three-year, tenure-track contracts to begin July 1 were: W. Donald Cotter, assistant professor of chemistry; Jim Hartley, assistant professor of economics; Sohail Hashmi, assistant professor of international relations; and Lucas Wilson, assistant professor of economics and African and African American studies.

The following people were reappointed to non-tenure-track positions, beginning July 1: Cathy Buchanan, lecturer in physical education; Penny Curtis, senior lecturer in physical education; Ted Eskildsen, lecturer in physical education; Pat Fabozzi, lecturer in physical education; Edward Fitzgerald, lecturer and director of laboratories in chemistry; Michael Hyer, senior lecturer in physical education; Ellen Perrella, senior lecturer in physical education; Laurie Priest, senior lecturer in physical education; and Donna Van Handle, lecturer in German studies.
