All about Us: LITS Action
The staff of Library, Information, and Technology Services (LITS) has been
extremely busy during the last six months. Among their recent activities:

Students and others are making full use of their new ability to request
interlibrary loan (ILL) materials by computer. From September through December
1996, 4,956 Five College items were borrowed by computer request, and 2,600
items were obtained through traditional ILL requests.

Librarians conducted forty-two library instruction classes and workshops
during fall semester. By contrast, they offered only fourteen workshops during
the entire 1990-91 academic year.

The technical support and repair group answered 1,024 cries for help. Calls
to the "help desk" came from students, staff, and faculty in equal proportions.

Archives and special collections answered 1,430 inquiries during the second
half of 1996.
