Some 500 fifth graders from the Holyoke public schools came to campus last week to make slime. No, it wasn't a Ghostbusters reenactment; it was part of the MHC chemistry department's outreach efforts to give local youngsters enrichment opportunities. Under the direction of MHC chemists Ed Fitzgerald and Ed Weaver, students used lab equipment to investigate cross-linked polymers by making the slippery substance.
