MHC takes the lead in charity walk--President Creighton is an honorary cochair of the "Rays of Hope" walkathon, scheduled for October 26. The event is designed to raise funds to aid women from the Pioneer Valley in the prevention and treatment of breast cancer. Money from the walk supports the Comprehensive Breast Center at Springfield's Baystate Medical Center, and the American Cancer Society. Creighton joins the presidents of Smith, Bay Path, and Elms Colleges as honorary cochairs of the volunteer event. Campus coordinators of the walk are Ellen Ortyl, assistant to the dean of the faculty, and physical education professor Sharon Crow. To join the MHC team on the fund-raising walk, contact Ortyl or Crow. Last year about fifty teams raised more than $135,000.
