STUDENTS

Glascock Poetry Competition Entries Students who wish to be MHC's contestant in the 1998 Glascock Intercollegiate Poetry Competition should submit two copies of their work to the English department office, Clapp 201, by 4 pm on Friday, February 27. The poems submitted should take approximately ten minutes to read aloud. The poet should leave her name off the copies themselves, but identify herself in an attached note. The Mount Holyoke student chosen anonymously by the faculty-student Glascock Committee will read her work in company with students from five other colleges before a public audience including three poet-judges: Gjertrud Schnackenberg, Ellen Bryant Voigt, and Richard Wilbur. Any questions should be directed to professor Mary Jo Salter, x 2457 or x 2146.

Bereavement Group Forming A Counseling Service bereavement group is forming and will meet at a time to be announced. The facilitators will be Davina Miller and Maria Farina. This is a group for students coping with the death of a parent or sibling. Please call x2037 to schedule a preliminary interview. A minimum of five students is required, and all sessions are confidential and free. The group will begin as soon as there are five participants.

Teas for Prospective Majors Sophomores are asked to declare their majors by April 15. Most departments schedule meetings or teas for prospective majors during the weeks before this deadline so that prospective majors can learn about particular departments or interdisciplinary programs. The teas will be spread over the period beginning Monday, March 2 and ending Tuesday, April 14. Be sure to check the College Street Journal in the coming weeks so that you can take advantage of these very important meetings.
