Vote for Staff Council Ballots for next year's Staff Council election are due by April 30. Employees attending the April 29 staff forum may turn in their ballots there. Votes will be counted on May 5, and the new Staff Council's terms begin the following week.
Positions Open for Speaking Assistants and Speaking Mentors The Speaking, Arguing, and Writing Program will be hiring several students next year to work as speaking assistants or speaking mentors. Speaking assistants will be located in the new Speaking Center in Porter Hall and will work with students who make appointments to help in developing oral projects. This will include videotaping and critiquing presentations, developing multimedia presentations, and related work. Mentors will work with faculty in speaking-intensive courses to help students in those courses develop their oral work. Applicants should have a background in theater, debate, public speaking, or some other area that will qualify them to teach students oral presentation. Interested students should email Lee Bowie (lbowie) for details. Assistants and mentors will typically work ten hours a week.
Join the SAW Board The Speaking, Arguing, and Writing Program (SAW) is seeking interested students to form a SAW Board. The board will help to initiate student projects in speaking, arguing, and writing and will assist in formulating and implementing the goals of the program. Interested students should contact Lee Bowie, director of SAW (Send email to lbowie).
Glee Club Auditions Carry a candle in the Christmas Vespers processional, carry a suitcase to Puerto Rico and Florida during J-term, carry your voice to Pratt, to audition for the 1998-99 Glee Club. Sign up in the Pratt lobby for a time on April 27, 28, or 29.
