National news correspondent Cokie Roberts will speak and sign copies of her book, We Are Our Mothers' Daughters on June 11 in Chapin Auditorium.
The book is a personal story about the women in Roberts' life, including her mother, former Congresswoman Lindy Boggs, who won her husband's congressional seat after his death in 1972 and is now President Clinton's ambassador to the Vatican. Roberts offers a glimpse of the close relationship she shared with her older sister, who bravely fought a battle with cancer. Roberts also includes other chapters about enterprising women and about women as politicians, reporters, and soldiers.
Roberts was named chief congressional analyst for ABC News in January. She covers politics, Congress, and public policy for World News Tonight. In addition, she is coanchor of the ABC News Sunday broadcast, This Week with Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts. She is also a news analyst for National Public Radio and writes a weekly syndicated newspaper column.
