Dean of the College Division Reorganizes Positions

Some positions within the Dean of the College division have recently been reorganized, according to Dean Beverly Daniel Tatum. Here are highlights of the new organizational structure.

* Rochelle Calhoun will be the new associate dean of the College, who shares responsibility with the dean for overseeing student life outside the classroom. This includes student social life, student housing, student organizations, student discipline/judicial procedures, and student leadership development. She will also oversee the cultural and community centers. Some of Calhoun's responsibilities as director of diversity and inclusion are incorporated into the associate dean position; she will no longer serve as ombudsperson.

* This summer, the assistant dean of students position will be consolidated from two half-time positions to one full-time position. Elisabeth Hogan will be the assistant dean of the College for student life.

* Although students may continue to work with any dean on advising, a dean now has formal responsibility for each class year (first years: Leah Glasser; sophomores: Ruth Bass Green; juniors: Chris Rivers or Terry Gargour-Rivers; seniors: Beverly Daniel Tatum).

* The assistant director of residential life position has been redefined to include administrative and training responsibilities along with live-in duties as a resident adviser with oversight responsibility for two or three residence halls.
