Art Bus Heading for the Big Apple

Friends of Art is sponsoring an "art bus" to New York City on Friday, April 16. The bus leaves at 8:30 am and returns at 7 pm. This is an "on your own" trip, so you can spend the day visiting some of the world's best museums, sightseeing, shopping, or whatever! $27 for FOA members, $32 for nonmembers. Liz Phair Concert Tickets

Tickets for the April 23 Liz Phair concert are now on sale at the Blanchard information desk at a special discounted rate of $10 for all MHC ID holders. Limit: two per MHC ID. General public tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Northampton Box Office (586-8686), For The Record in Amherst, About Music in Greenfield, and at Tix Unlimited at UMass. Opening the show for Phair will be RCA recording artist David Mead. The concert is presented by The Network, the Office of Student Activities, and "The River" 95.3/100.7 FM. Senior Ball Tickets

Tickets for the Senior Ball on Friday, April 23 will be on sale in Blanchard April 5 - 20 from noon to 1 pm. Each senior may purchase up to four tickets in advance. Tickets cost $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Contact Becca McGowan (rkmcgowa) or Erika Purnell (ecpurnel) for more information.

It's not too late to participate in Senior Giving.

Voting for the senior gift will take place in Blanchard April 6 - 9, 11 am - 3 pm. Only seniors who have fulfilled their giving pledge to senior giving may vote. Contact the giving representative in your hall to make a gift, or stop by the voting table during voting days and complete a gift card. Submit gift ideas to Katherin Higgins, PO Box 2928, by April 5. English Department Courses Renumbered for Fall Registration '99

The English department has renumbered all of its courses for fall '99. Because of these changes, it is particularly important for students registering for courses in the English department to read the Supplement to the Course Catalogue in the registration packet. The list of renumbered courses is given there. Do not use the course numbers that are in the current course catalogue. Call the English department office at x2146 if you have questions.

Deadline for Dropping Courses

Tuesday, April 13, is the last day for students to drop a course. Drop forms, which are available in the registrar's office, must be returned with all the appropriate signatures by the drop deadline.

Ungraded Option for the Class of 2002

Tuesday, April 13, is the last day for students in the Class of 2002 to declare a course ungraded or to change from the ungraded option to the graded option.

Pregistration for Fall 1999 - 2000

The academic advising and preregistration period for fall semester 1999 - 2000 is Monday through Friday, April 12-16. All students who intend to be on campus in the fall must register during this period. Student registration packets were delivered to the College post office and placed in student mail boxes April 9. Five College information and registration forms will be available at the Office of the Registrar beginning Monday, April 12. Students should contact their advisers for appointments in sufficient time to obtain all necessary course or departmental approvals and final adviser approval by Friday, April 16, the deadline to submit forms. Preparing for Teacher Certification

Students interested in applying for teacher certification (done during the spring of senior year) through MHC are reminded during this advising period to contact the director of the program as soon as possible. You do not need to make a final commitment at this time; however, there are things you need to plan for, and be aware of, as you proceed with your MHC career. When you make an appointment with the director, she will make sure that you get on a mailing list for announcements and meetings. If you think you might be interested in early childhood or elementary certification, call Anita Page x2189; for secondary or middle, call Carmen Rolon x3510.

Walk-A-Thon Planning

The Community Service Volunteer Program is sponsoring a walk-a-thon on Sunday, April 25, to benefit local shelters. The event will begin at 2 pm and walkers should meet at the green across from the Village Commons at 1:45 pm.
