Established in 1979, Science Adventures is dedicated to providing "hands-on" science enrichment for elementary age (K-6) students. Science Adventures emphasizes the development and use of critical-thinking skills and interactive dynamic learning situations in teaching science concepts. There are five one-week day-camp programs, including a Space and Rocketry Camp, which allows students to build and launch rockets; Gizmo's Awesome Adventure Park, a fun-filled week of exploring physics concepts through children building their own roller coasters and other attractions; and the Fabulous Physics Factory Camp, where making bubble gum ooze and gummy animals always promises a fun time. Each session offers its own focus on fun and learning.

Theatre Summer Theatre at Mount Holyoke presents Sandbag: Stage Left by John Anthony. The play tells the story of the murder trial of undertaker Arnold Meddle, accused of dropping a theatrical sandbag from the rafters and onto his wife, who happened to be playing the lead in a community theatre production of Hello Dolly at the time. One by one, community theatre types of various shapes, sizes, and IQs are paraded onto the stand to testify, as defense attorney Static and Prosecutor Cling do their best to get to the truth. This is an annual week-long conference of poetry and fiction classes, workshops, and readings offered by and for alumni/ae of the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College (formerly the Goddard MFA Program for Writers). The Musicorda Summer String Program is a six-week training program for gifted and advanced string students from around the world. Musicorda festival concerts feature internationally renowned concert artists each Friday. The young artists series of concerts, on Sunday evenings July 4 - August 1, feature students from the Summer String Program. Student recitals are on Wednesday evenings, July 7 - August 4, 8 pm in Chapin Auditorium.

SummerMath for Teachers (Five sessions between June 27 and August 6) For more information, contact Virginia Bastable at (413) 538-2654. SummerMath for Teachers consists of five institutes for teachers of mathematics, grades K-12. The program is designed to allow teachers to develop new classroom strategies that promote mathematical understanding, explore mathematical ideas with the use of computers and calculators, and consider current research in mathematics education.
Center for Talented Youth (Session I continues through July 16.) For more information, contact Art Kramer at (410) 516-0313. This is a summer residential program for young, highly able students. Motivated participants enroll in challenging humanities, math, and science courses, taught well above grade level by dedicated instructors in a safe and supportive environment. The experience gives students a better picture of their own academic ability and potential, helps them to develop better work habits, and refines their educational goals.
