The Five College Early Music Program will present three December concerts featuring music by composers ranging from Bach to Mozart. On Tuesday, December 7, at 4:30 pm at the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum, the Five College Early Music Collegium, directed by Robert Eisenstein, will perform French Renaissance music, including Noels and Christmas motets. A fine small choir is joined by Renaissance winds and a fiddle band. Admission is free, but tickets need to be picked up in advance at the art museum. A full version of the December 7 program will be presented Friday, December 10, at 8 pm, at Smith College's Sweeney Concert Hall. Admission is free.
The Euridice Ensemble, a
baroque/classical chamber orchestra directed by Robert Eisenstein,
with sopranos Cheryl Cobb and Melinda Spratlan will perform Sunday,
December 12, at 8 pm in Mount Holyoke's newly refurbished Pratt
Auditorium. The program includes Haydn's Symphony #8 ("Le Soir"), the
Overture and arias from Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, and Bach's Third Orchestral Suite.
Admission is free.
