Early Music Program Presents Three December Concerts

 

The Five College Early Music Program will present three December concerts featuring music by composers ranging from Bach to Mozart. On Tuesday, December 7, at 4:30 pm at the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum, the Five College Early Music Collegium, directed by Robert Eisenstein, will perform French Renaissance music, including Noels and Christmas motets. A fine small choir is joined by Renaissance winds and a fiddle band. Admission is free, but tickets need to be picked up in advance at the art museum. A full version of the December 7 program will be presented Friday, December 10, at 8 pm, at Smith College's Sweeney Concert Hall. Admission is free.

The Euridice Ensemble, a baroque/classical chamber orchestra directed by Robert Eisenstein, with sopranos Cheryl Cobb and Melinda Spratlan will perform Sunday, December 12, at 8 pm in Mount Holyoke's newly refurbished Pratt Auditorium. The program includes Haydn's Symphony #8 ("Le Soir"), the Overture and arias from Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, and Bach's Third Orchestral Suite. Admission is free.
