Three years into the Plan for 2003, the College has met all the goals of the "New Initiatives and Emphases" section. Two progressive and vitalizing programs, the Harriet L. and Paul M. Weissman Center for Leadership and the Center for Environmental Literacy (CEL), are now firmly established and will continue to have a major impact across the College. The Weissman Center has successfully implemented engaging programs and curricular innovations; it will explore additional topic areas under new leadership during phase two of the Plan. Planning has been the major focus of the CEL during its first three years. The center will begin implementing programs and curricular and research projects over the next three years. In addition to launching these new initiatives, the College has made steady progress in expanding its links to the world beyond MHC's gates and involving students and faculty in the community. The role that alumnae play in a wide variety of MHC programs has also been broadened considerably. Further strengthening of these areas is expected during phase two of the Plan.
