According to Katya King, who has worked as assistant director of fellowships at the CDC since 2001, there was significantly increased faculty involvement this year. “All our finalists benefited from great faculty mentoring. And all did more than one rewrite of their application," King said. "I've been impressed with the quality of our students, and their willingness to invest their heart and soul into their applications.” King added that “these scholarships are very competitive, and are getting more so every year, as more schools get into the game, and more use their success as a way to promote their institution.”
