EXPERT TO DISCUSS "DEMOCRATIZATION IN
THE MUSLIM WORLD"
ON MARCH 25 AT MOUNT HOLYOKE COLLEGE
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. Anwar H. Syed, professor emeritus
of political science at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst,
will speak on "Democratization in the Muslim World"
on Tuesday, March 25, at 4:30 PM in the lounge of Eliot House.
The talk will be followed by a question-and-answer session, and
is open to the public.
Syed is the author of several books, including Pakistan:
Islam, Politics, and National Solidarity (Praeger Publishers,
1982); The Discourse and Politics of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto
(Palgrave Macmillan, 1992); and China & Pakistan: Diplomacy
of an Entente Cordiale (University of Massachusetts Press,
1974). He has an MA and PhD in international relations from the
University of Pennsylvania, an MA in political science from the
University of Chicago, and an MA in economics and BA in economics
and philosophy from the University of Panjab in Pakistan.
The talk is sponsored by the College's Office of Religious and
Spiritual Life.
