""AFTER SEPTEMBER 11: THE HARD QUESTIONS"
PANEL DISCUSSION AND TEACH IN
AT MOUNT HOLYOKE COLLEGE

 

There will be a panel discussion and teach-in held in response to the terrorist attacks of September 11, at Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday evening, September 25, at 8:00 p.m. The event takes place at Gamble Auditorium on the Mount Holyoke College campus.

The moderator for the discussion will be Kavita Khory, Associate Professor of Politics at Mount Holyoke College. Professor Khory focuses on international relations and comparative politics, especially in South Asia. The three panelists taking part are Nafisa Hoodbhoy, Michael Klare and Sohail Hashmi.

Nafisa Hoodbhoy has been a reporter for the English language ‘Dawn’ newspaper in Pakistan for the last 16 years. She also taught ‘gender politics’ relating to Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan at Amherst College as a Ford Foundation Fellow and is currently producing programs for WFCR radio. Michael Klare is a Five College Professor and Director of the Five College Program in Peace and World Security Studies (PAWSS). He is also the author of "Light Weapons and Civil Conflict" (1999). Sohail Hashmi is an Associate Professor of International Relations at Mount Holyoke College and co-author with David Miller of "Boundaries and Justice: Diverse Ethical Perspectives."

The event is sponsored by The Weissman Center for Leadership, and the Offices of the Dean of the College and the Dean of Faculty. It is free, open to the public, and wheelchair accessible.
