DRINKING AND DRIVING AWARENESS DAY
FEATURING MOCK ACCIDENT
Wednesday, April 2, 2003 (Rain date: Tuesday,
April 8, 2003)
Data from the National Highway Traffic Administration and the
Centers for Disease Control indicate that over one million people
were injured in alcohol-related automobile accidents in 1997.
Three out of ten Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related
automobile crash in their lifetime. Alcohol-related car accidents
are the number one killer for those under 25 years of age. One
of the most astounding statistics is that every fifteen minutes
someone in the U.S. dies as a result of an alcohol-related automobile
crash.
The Mount Holyoke College Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT)
and the Alcohol and Drug Advisory Committee are joining with South
Hadley High School in co-sponsoring a national program entitled
Every Fifteen Minutes. This program promotes awareness
of the consequences of drinking and driving.
A series of events and activities will be part of this program.
These include the following:
- 10:00am 5:00pm Information Table
