EARTH WEEK 2000 AT MOUNT HOLYOKE COLLEGE

APRIL, 2000

South Hadley, MA—Beginning April 13, a series of Earth Day-related events will take place at Mount Holyoke College to explore environmental and cultural issues relating to the state of our Earth. The events include speakers, communication forums, community service activities, and music. All events are sponsored by the Center for Environmental Literacy at Mount Holyoke College.

Thursday April 13^th 7:00 PM	Dwight 101 Mount Holyoke College	Movie Showing: "The Medicine Man"
Monday April 17^th All Day	Skinner Green Mount Holyoke College	Trash Demonstration- Learn the how-tos of recycling & composting. There will be a day-long display of trash from college dorms located on Skinner Green. Demonstration by the Campus Conservation Coalition.
Monday April 17^th 2:00-5:00pm	Eliot House Mount Holyoke College	Deep Ecology Workshop. Kaela Vronsky will conduct a 3-hour long workshop introducing deep ecology philosophy.
Tuesday, April 18^th 7:30 PM	Stimson Room Williston Memorial Library Mount Holyoke College	Global Warming Forum with Mount Holyoke College professors and students. Forum by the Center for Environmental Literacy and the Campus Conservation Coalition.
Thursday April 20^th 8 AM	Blanchard Campus Center Mount Holyoke College	Vernal Pool Walk. Join Center for Environmental Literacy staff member Peter Houlihan as he leads a group through Mount Holyoke’s campus to discover and identify vernal pools.
Thursday April 20^th All Day	Blanchard Front Steps Mount Holyoke College	Day of Action: Ecopledge Prop Tour. Tour organized by MASSPIRG.
Thursday April 20^th7 pm	Dwight 101 Mount Holyoke College	Movie Showing: "The Lorax."
Friday April 21^st8:00 PM	Chapin Auditorium Mount Holyoke College	Spoken Word Retrospective Marky Ramone, drummer of the Ramones, will give a multimedia retrospective entitled "Ramones Around the World" at MHC on April 21 at 8 PM. His presentation will include behind-the-scenes information about the punk band. Presented by WMHC 91.5 and the Office of Student Activities at Mount Holyoke. Free and open to the public with general admission seating; no tickets necessary. Doors open at 7 PM. For more info., call 413-538-2478.
Friday April 21^st 7:30 PM	Chapin Auditorium Mount Holyoke College	Animal Rights Information Table and Merchandise sale by the Student Organization for Animal Rights (SOAR).
Friday April 21^st 10:00 PM	Blanchard Student Center Mount Holyoke College	Two Punk Bands: The Unseen and The Statistics, two bands from Boston.

This series of events is co-sponsored by the Center for Environmental Literacy, the Campus Conservation Coalition, MASSPIRG, Student Coalition for Action, Student Organization for Animal Rights, and Mount Holyoke College.
