EDITOR'S NOTES

What Is This? You're browsing the first issue of Mount Holyoke's new publication, which will bring you news four times a year about what's happening on campus and about the College's thought-provoking students, faculty, and other community members.

The College has just welcomed a new president, and it seemed a propitious time to replace the President's Report with a fresh publication that distributes Mount Holyoke's news to a broader audience, including alumnae; prospective and current MHC students; MHC faculty and staff; parents of current students; institutional advancement, guidance, and media professionals; and other friends of the College.

We hope Vista will inform, entertain, and even challenge you with a variety of timely news and feature stories on the many facets of campus life today.

We chose "Vista" as this publication's name because we thought it evoked the grand panorama of Mount Holyoke's enterprises, the views from the College's namesake mountain range, and the broad spectrum of insight we hope our articles will bring you.

We're eager to know how you like this debut issue. Please send comments, compliments, (and--if you must--complaints) to Emily Harrison Weir, 20 Mary E. Woolley Hall, Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, MA 01075-1459, or send email to: eweir@mtholyoke.edu.
