The American Cancer Society holds a "We Can Weekend" which is a retreat for adults with cancer and their families. It focuses on the problems and concerns encountered in living with cancer. The Weekend promotes family togetherness in a relaxed setting. Workshops and activities are offered for the entire family on the topics such as family communication, intimacy, relaxation, stress management, strategies for coping, diet and nutrition, spirituality, and individual exercise programs.

The Arabic Music Retreat, led by Simon Shaheen of the New York-based Near Eastern Music Ensemble and Dr. Jihad Racy of UCLA, provides intensive studies in Arab music history, theory, and performance. Participants from throughout the United States have come to Mount Holyoke College to take part in this six-day musical event.

ARIA International Summer Academy

ARIA International Summer Academy is now in its 17th season, and will offer 10-day intensive "boot camp" sessions for music students aged 16 to 28 between July 27 and August 5, 2008. The sessions will provide the students with an indepth study of their instrument through private lessons, master classes, workshops, and lectures.

The Center for Talented Youth is a summer residential program for young, highly able students. Motivated participants enroll in challenging humanities, math, and science courses, taught well above grade level, by dedicated instructors in a safe and supportive environment. The Center for Talented Youth experience gives students a better picture of their own academic ability and potential, helps them to develop better work habits, and refines their educational goals.

The Girls Leadership Institute provides an opportunity for girls between the ages of 12 and 18 to master their confidence and leadership skills. The mission of the Girls Leadership Institute is to ‘fight the crisis of confidence and dissociation that often occurs in adolescent girls.’ Their workshops thus teach girls the necessary skills to increase emotional intelligence during conflict, admit limitations and accept criticism, and connect the concept of leadership to everyday aspects of girls’ lives. As well as workshops, many extracurricular camp-like activities are planned to ensure an overall educational and fun experience.

The Gordon Research Conferences promote discussion and the free exchange of ideas at the research frontiers of the biological, chemical, and physical sciences. Scientists with common profession interests come together for a full week of intense discussion and examination of the most advanced aspects of their field. These conferences provide a valuable means of disseminating information and ideas in a way that cannot be achieved through the usual channels of communication – publications and presentations at large scientific meetings.

Mount Holyoke Athletics Department will be offering a full- day basketball camp for girls entering second through ninth grade. The camp will focus on developing solid fundamental basketball skills in regard to individual and team concepts. A winning attitude and a positive approach to the game will be stressed. The camp will be under the direction of Mount Holyoke College's own Basketball Coach, Michelle Scecina.

The Nike Tennis Camp at Mt. Holyoke College is designed to train ranked juniors, ages 11-18, through an intensive tennis program. It is for those tournament level players who have earned their ranking, and for advanced players who are seeking a USTA ranking. Each camper will be evaluated on court and placed in an instructional group deemed appropriate by the director and staff. Mt. Holyoke College offers outstanding tennis facilities, including 12 outdoor and six indoor courts. Campers stay in campus dorms and enjoy their meals in the dorm dining room.

Philip de Fremery Guitar Camp

The program is a master class set up for people in graduate school or for those just out of graduate school to give them training in the techniques of guitar playing. The course is a performance class that brings together people from all over the nation. The program includes four hours of training a night for two weeks. Philip de Fremery teaches the course.

The Summer Math program provides an opportunity for young women in high school to actively explore mathematics, build confidence, discover computers, develop problem-solving strategies, and have a "taste of college." Most students live on campus and, in addition to classes, have opportunities to participate in sports, creative writing, arts and crafts, and day trips. The program is not only for "A" students looking for new frontiers in mathematics, but also for students who approach mathematics with fear and little confidence. Since 1970, the United States Sports Camps has run one of the premiere swim camps in the country. Our philosophy is to educate competitive swimmers on the proper techniques of each stroke as well as give them knowledge about proper workouts, dry land training, nutrition, mental training, and injury prevention. The camp is open to any competitive swimmers from 9 years old to swimmers entering their senior year of high school. The staff consists of college and university coaches and swimmers.
