Annual Conversations with Staff
July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009
Please ask your faculty to e-mail you some brief comments on the performance of your department assistant and any other staff member in your department or program: what works well, what might need improvement, and suggestions.
You should then collect the comments and use them (without, of course, naming the source) as a basis for a conversation with your assistant. Please write a short note summarizing the main points of the conversation, and send to me. Give the staff member a copy, and be sure he or she understands that he or she may write a separate note to me.
Doing this soon would work best. This need not be elaborate, and should become, if it is not already, an annual practice.
