9:00 am-10:30 am Student Employment Work Clearance Meeting (for U.S. citizens and permanent residents) This meeting is required for all students who intend to work on campus. Conducted by the Payroll Office and Student Employment Office, this brief workshop provides general information about student employment and assists students in being certified to work on campus.
Please complete in advance the following required forms and bring to this meeting:
- Federal Employment Eligibility Verification (I9) Form
- Federal (W4) tax form
- State (M4) tax form
- Original valid forms of identification
- A photocopy of your original forms of identification
You may choose this identification from the list located on the back of the I9 form. You will need one document if you choose from List A or you will need two documents if you choose from List B AND C (i.e. a passport (current or expired) or driver’s license and social security card). 10:30am - 11:30 am LITS and SAW Introduction (FP) Chrissa Godbout from the Library's Research and Instructional Services Department will introduce library materials available to you through the 5-college library catalog, online databases and ella, our learning management system, along with other services available to support your academic work. Laura Greenfield, from the Speaking, Arguing and Writing Program (SAW) will introduce you to the many resources SAW has to offer including the mentoring program, writing and speaking workshops and individual assistance with your writing projects. 1:15-4:30 pm Academic Advising Appointments (A) Meetings with faculty advisers in faculty offices. Adviser assignments are listed on your adviser appointment sheet in your packets. Office locations are listed in your telephone directory and on the appointment sheet as well. Please arrive at your adviser's office promptly at 1:15pm. At this time, your adviser will schedule your individual appointment for a time slot between 1:30pm and 4:30 pm. These individual appointments are crucial for review of your course selection and discussion of your goals for your first semester. Some appointments may be arranged for Wednesday morning, 8:30am-9:30am if necessary.
Foreign fellows, exchange students, and international guest students will receive information about their academic adviser and the time of their academic advising appointment in their arrival packets. (FF)
FPs and new Transfer students may schedule appointments with their advisers at their convenience. (FP)

2:00 pm -4:00 pm Placement Session for English 103 and English 105 (I) Informal information session for international students who would like to take English 103f or English 105f. These courses are especially designed for multilingual students who need practice in speaking and writing English at the college level. If you are having difficulty deciding which of the two courses to take, please feel free to drop in to Porter Hall 108 any time between 2:00 and 4:00pm to meet the professors and to ask for registration advice. Attendance at this session is not required. You may also be guided by the course descriptions for English 103 and 105 in the College catalog or by coming to the English Department's booth at the Academic Fair. 108 Porter Hall

Try our renowned treasure hunt! Explore the Museum's fantastic permanent collection and be the first on campus to see our newly installed special exhibitions. Everyone gets a free poster. 4:00 pm-5:00 pm Center for Global Initiatives Reception The Center initiates, promotes, and supports educational programming that prepares you for citizenship and a career in a global world. Visit us and learn about Center-sponsored on-campus programs on globalization, opportunites for cross-cutlrual and national engagement and different learning opportunities abroad (study abroad, international internships and fellowships for summer research abroad). This session is open to any student in recovery from alcohol and/or drugs, those affected by another's use of alcohol and/or drugs or students questionsing their own use. 4:30 pm–5:30 pm Preparation for Health Sciences Careers Ever thought about a career in public health, medicine, physical therapy, or any other health profession? Advisors from the faculty and the Career Development Center will be available to show what resources are available as you explore or plan for a career, and to help you identify courses that would meet the requirements for professional schools. 6:30 pm–7:30 pm Joining a Residential Community (A) Meet with your Student Advisor (SA) and professional staff of the Office of Residential Life as they take you through the basics for living in a residential community. This interactive session will cover dealing with the benefits and challenges of community living at MHC. Roommates will complete the Roommate Starter Kit and set guidelines for living together. 7:30 pm -9:30 pm Alcohol, Sex & Sexual Assault: Keeping Yourself and Others Safe Important information presented by the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Project, Health Services, Public Safety and the student organization MERT(Medical Emergency Response Team).
