9:00am–11:00 am Academic Fair (A) All departments and programs will have representatives present to answer questions about course selection, placement, curriculum and permission requests. Schedule changes can be made at this event with the help of the department representatives. This is a chance to begin to expand your advising network beyond your faculty advisor and to explore possible changes to your academic program. Fieldhouse, Kendall Sports and Dance Complex
10:00am - 10:30am Career Development Center Orientation (FP) Cori Ashworth and others will introduce the many services, resources, workshops, web capabilities, fellowships and internships available to all students but presented with a special focus on the particular circumstances of FPs. 10:00am - 8:00pm Choral Ensemble Auditions Come join Mount Holyoke's long tradition of choral singing. All are welcome and invited to audition for Chorale, Glee Club and Chamber Singers. Auditions are short and painless - just bring a song to sing and be prepared to do a few ear tests. Sign up outside the music Office (Pratt 208). Pratt 302
11:15 am First-Years Rally for Convocation Meet on the green and wear your class color, blue! Gather in front of Mary Lyon's Grave Rain Location: Chapin Balcony
11:30 am–12:30 pm Convocation (A) Join faculty, students, and staff of the College for the ceremony that officially opens the academic year. Gettell Amphitheater Rain Location: Chapin Auditorium, Mary Woolley Hall
12:30pm–1:30 pm Convocation Picnic (A) Join the entire Mount Holyoke community for a picnic on Skinner Green. Skinner Green Rain Plan: Picnic will be cancelled and Ham-MacGregor, Prospect, North Rockefeller and South Rockefeller [not accessible] Dining Halls and Blanchard will be open for regular meal service.
1:00pm - 4:00pm Auditions for individual performance and ensemble study. Sign up for an audition time on the bulletin board across the hall from the music office. Details concerning audition expectations are posted on the board. Pratt Hall
2:00pm - 4:00pm Student Services Resource Fair (A) Stop by and pick up information and meet representatives from a broad range of student services: study abroad, on-campus jobs, bike/care registration, alumnae connections, internships, 5 College information and much more. There will be raffles, giveaways and refreshments. Music provided by WMHC. The Orientation Board will provide giant twister, water balloon fights, cotton candy and more! 5:00pm–7:00 pm Dinner Abbey-Buckland, Ham-MacGregor, North Rockefeller, South Rockefeller (not accessible), Prospect, and Wilder Dining Halls and Blanchard Café. (Blanchard Café is available as part of the meal plan after 4:00 pm until midnight.)
8:00pm–10:00 pm Small Group Event: Honor Code Ceremony (A) The honor code ceremony is a time for incoming students to become better acquainted with the honor code and how it will impact their lives at MHC. Members from the Council on Student Affairs (CSA), fellow students, and faculty facilitate a discussion. New students will sign the honor code in the presence of upperclass women to symbolically mark their entry into the MHC community. Immediately following there will be a reception and opportunity for small groups to celebrate together the beginning of classes. Chapin Auditorium, Mary Woolley Hall
10:00 pm - 1:00 am Green with Envy Convocation Party The senior class is throwing the first kick-off party of the year and everyone is invited! Wear something green (class of 2009 color to get in free or pay two bucks ($2) at the door.) Beer available for sale to those with proper ID. Great Room, Blanchard Campus Center
