Cocurricular Activities

Participating in cocurricular activities is an important aspect of a college education that introduces students to new ideas, perspectives, and experiences. Cocurricular activities build organizational and leadership skills within individual students. Many students find that their cocurricular involvement provides them with leadership experiences that are transferable to life beyond Mount Holyoke College.

There are almost 200 student organizations including media organizations such as the radio station WMHC 91.5 FM, The Mount Holyoke News student newspaper, the Llamarada yearbook, and several literary magazines, The Network Programming Board, club sports, cultural groups, community groups, performance groups, and groups which reflect academic interests.

For a complete listing of organizations, see the Office of Student Programs online.

Office of Student Programs
The mission of the Office of Student Programs is to educate women beyond the classroom by providing opportunities for involvement, service, and leadership. These opportunities will allow students to realize their individual and collective potential. In addition, the Office of Student Programs facilitates a vibrant cocurricular life by developing cultural and entertainment programming offerings. To these ends, the Office of Student Programs provides guidance and assistance in order to support the efforts and activities of individual students, their organizations, and the entire campus community.

The Office of Student Programs provides services and resources and advocates for student concerns on relevant College committees. Student programs is the first stop for students planning events. The office consists of a staff of student employees, the event coordinator who assists students with details for their events, the administrative assistant who manages the daily office operations, the assistant director of operations who provides building operations and technical services, and the director and associate director of student programs, both of whom advise student groups and assist in programming and leadership development. The Office of Student Programs is located in Room 327 Blanchard.
