DAILY INCIDENT LOGS

Below is a listing of all incidents and accidents reported to the Mount Holyoke College Department of Public Safety. Each listing includes the date and time of the report, a description of the incident or accident which includes the location of the event, and a case number and case status. These are provided for the education of the community, as well as to satisfy the requirements of the Federal Right to Know law. Please feel free to call Public Safety at x2304 (or (413) 538-2304) if you have any questions about incidents occurring on campus.

The following incidents occurred between:

June 15 and June 21:

On June 17 at 10:58pm a conference member reported his wallet was stolen from Gamble Auditorium while he was attending a lecture (Incident #08-242-OF) Case Open.

On June 17 at 11:00am a visitor to campus report suspisious person in a vehicle approaching her on June 7th near the Lower Lake area. The driver is discribed as a while male between the ages of 20-30years old with a thin build.(Incident #08-241-OF) Case Open.

June 8 and June 14:

No Incidents Reported.

June 1 and June 7:

On May 31 at 12:00pm officers received a report that a college vehicle struck a parked car while backing near Mary Woolley Hall (Incident #08-7-AC).

On June 2 at 2:45pm a student reported that someone was attempting to open a credit card in her name. Officers are working in conjunction with her home police department to investigate (Incident #08-240-OF). Case Open.

On June 1 at 9:39am a student reported her iPod was stolen from her room in Pearsons Hall between 7:00am and 9:15am. The room was left unlocked during this period (Incident #08-238-OF). Case Open.

May 25 and May 31:

On May 30 at 10:04pm officers responded to 1837 Hall to assist a guest who was ill. She was assessed and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-237-OF).

On May 30 at 1:39pm officers responded to the area of Lab Theatre to assist a visitor who fell. Officers rendered first aid (Incident #08-236-OF).

On May 28 at 11:35am a student reported her earrings were stolen from a room in South Rockefeller Hall. She last saw the earrings on May 24 at 9:00am (Incident #08-235-OF). Case Open.

On May 27 at 7:15pm a student her bicycle was stolen from outside Buckland Hall. It was not locked when it was last seen (Incident #08-234-OF). Case Open.

On May 26 at 11:20am officers received a report of a threatening message written in chalk near Porter Hall. The message appeared to be targeted at one individual, who was contacted and reported having no interactions that could cause someone to write such a message (Incident #08-233-OF). Case Open.

On May 25 at 7:27am officers received a report that someone broke a window on a door of the kitchen area of North Rockefeller Hall in an apparent attempt to enter the building. Access was not gained and nothing was missing (Incident #08-232-OF). Case Open.

May 18 and May 24:

Incident #08-231-OF: Incident Number not Assigned.

On May 24 at 10:58 am officers and an on-duty EMT responded to Ham Hall to assist an alumna who was ill. She was assessed and declined further medical attention (Incident #08-230-OF).

On May 24 at 12:06am an employee reported two golf carts being used for reunion activities were stolen. Both carts were located and returned to the Alumnae Office later that morning (Incident #08-229-OF). Case Open.

On May 21 at 6:33pm a student reported that a number of items were stolen from her room between May 11 and May 21. Officers are checking to see if perhaps the room was cleaned in error or if a theft occurred (Incident #08-228-OF). Case Open.

On May 19 at 5:19pm officers received a complaint about an intoxicated male on the PVTA bus. Officers located the individual and arranged transportation for him to his destination (Incident #08-227-OF). Case Closed.

May 11 and May 17:

On May 17 at 1:04pm officers received a report that boxes belonging to a student which were left by the dumbwaiter at Mead Hall were missing. Two boxes were recovered and two remain missing (Incident #08-226-OF). Case Open.

On May 17 at 4:32am a college vehicle struck a pallet while backing up in the OCK parking lot. Minor damage occurred to the rear bumper of the vehicle (Incident #08-6-AC).

Incident #08-225-OF: Incident Not Assigned.

On May 17 at 11:47am officers received a complaint about postings on trees and other locations on campus (Incident #08-224-OF). Case Open.

On May 15 at 10:50am a student reported that her bicycle, which was left unsecured at the Blanchard Bus Stop on May 8 was stolen (Incident #08-223-OF). Case Open.

On May 14 at 6:52pm a student reported her cell phone was missing and possibly stolen from her room in Mead Hall between May 6 and May 9 (Incident #08-222-OF). Case Open.

On May 14 at 1:48pm an employee reported a suspicious male going through items that appeared to be discarded in 1837 Hall and he was heading toward the Mandelles. Officers located the male and identified him. He stated he was collecting items being discarded, and had done so in the past; another employee reported having seen him doing this in past years. He was trespassed from campus (Incident #08-221-OF). Case Closed.

On May 14 at 2:23am officers responded to Pearsons Hall for a report of an ill student. The student, who had been drinking, was assessed and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-220-OF).

May 4 and May 10:

On May 8 at 12:27am officers and the EMTs responded to Prospect Hall for a report of an intoxicated student. She was assessed and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-219-OF).

On May 7 at 10:45am an employee reported a sign for the senior Strawberries and Champagne event was stolen, and the poles on which it was mounted at the Amphitheater were bent (Incident #08-218-OF). Case Open.

On May 7 at 9:52am a student reported her bicycle was stolen from the Mead Hall porch since May 4. The bicycle was unlocked. Officers on patrol found the bicycle an hour later and was returned to its owner (Incident #08-217-OF). Case Closed.

On May 6 at 3:42pm a student reported her bicycle was stolen from outside North Rockefeller Hall on May 3. The bicycle was not locked when it was last seen (Incident #08-216-OF). Case Open.

Case Update to Incident #08-215-OF: The backpack previously reported stolen from the Kendall weight room was found on May 6 when an officer checked the men's bathroom at this location. Case Closed.

On May 5 at 9:54pm a student reported her backpack was stolen from outside of Kendall Halls weight room during the 15 minutes she was inside (Incident #08-215-OF). Case Closed.

On May 4 at 1:09am a student reported someone took some photographs and pictures from the door of her room in North Rockefeller Hall. The photographs were found and were returned to her; one sign remained missing (Incident #08-214-OF). Case Open.

April 27 and May 3:

On May 3 at 9:38pm officers and the EMTs responded to North Rockefeller Hall for a medical emergency in which there was concern about the student's mental health. The student was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-213-OF).

On May 3 at 1:58am officers and the EMTs responded to Brigham Hall for a report of an intoxicated student. She was assessed and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-212-OF).

On May 2 at 9:21pm officers and the EMTs responded to Brigham Hall to assess a student who was not feeling well. She was assessed and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-211-OF).

On May 2 at 6:51pm officers and the EMTs responded to Brigham Hall for a report of an intoxicated student. She was assessed and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-210-OF).

Case Update to Incident #08-204-OF: The umbrella previously reported stolen from the Library was found on April 30 in the lost and found at the Library. Case Closed.

On April 30 at 3:50pm officers received a report that someone sent a check issued in the college's name. Officers believe this may be related to incident #08-205-OF below, and are investigating with the assistance of the FBI (Incident #08-209-OF). Case Open.

On April 30 at 6:45pm officers responded to the Athletic Fields to assist a visitor who was not feeling well. She was assessed and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-208-OF).

Incident #08-207-OF: Incident Number Not Assigned.

On April 30 at 11:00am a student reported her bicycle was stolen from the Gorse Parking Lot between 11:00am and 1:00pm. The bicycle was unsecured when it was last seen (Incident #08-206-OF). Case Open.

Case Update to Incident #08-195-OF: The student reporting unknown charges to her debit card was able to determine that they were legitimate charges. Case Closed.

On April 29 at 12:55pm officers received information that someone attempted to make a large purchase using a fraudulent check with the College's name on it. The recipient did not cash the check and notified the College. Officers are investigating in conjunction with the FBI (Incident #08-205-OF). Case Open.

On April 28 at 12:30pm a student reported that her umbrella had been stolen from the atrium of the Library between 12:20pm and 12:30pm. The umbrella was found at the Library on April 30 (Incident #08-204-OF). Case Closed.

On April 28 at 1:08pm a student reported her cell phone was stolen from her bag while it was at Blanchard on April 16 (Incident #08-203-OF). Case Open.

On April 27 at 3:27pm a student reported that her bag was stolen from her carrel at the Library, though its contents were left on her carrel (Incident #08-202-OF). Case Open.

On April 27 at 3:34am officers evaluated a student reported to be intoxicated at Prospect Hall. She was assessed and refused further medical attention (Incident #08-201-OF).

On April 27 at 2:30am officers evaluated a student reported to be intoxicated at South Rockefeller Hall. She was assessed and was determined not to be in need of further medical attention (Incident #08-200-OF).

On April 27 at 1:37am officers and the EMTs evaluated a student reported to be intoxicated at Mary Woolley Hall. She was assessed and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-199-OF).

On April 27 at 12:03am officers working at an event witnessed a student fall down the stairs. She was evaluated and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-198-OF).

On April 27 at 12:12am officers and the EMTs evaluated a student reported to be intoxicated at Mary Woolley Hall. She was assessed and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-197-OF).

April 20 and April 26:

On April 26 at 11:23pm a student reported seeing a suspicious white male in Blanchard Hall. Officers found the individual and identified him; he was asked to leave as he had no current connection to the college (Incident #08-196-OF). Case Closed.

On April 26 at 1:09pm a student reported that someone made two withdrawals from her debit card, which was still in her possession. On April 29 the case was closed as the student was able to determine that the charges were indeed legitimate. (Incident #08-195-OF). Case Closed.

Incident #08-194-OF: Incident Number not Assigned.

On April 25 at 2:45pm a student reported that her bicycle was stolen from the bike room in 1837 Hall since March 7 (Incident #08-193-OF). Case Open.

On April 25 at 1:10pm officers responded to MacGregor Hall for a report of an altercation. A male victim reported another male, known to him, punched him several times. The suspect had left the area by the time officers arrived, but will be summoned to court on assault and battery charges (Incident #08-192-OF). Case Open.

Incident #08-191-OF: Incident Number not Assigned.

On April 24 at 1:56pm officers responded to Blanchard Hall to assess an employee who was struck by an outdoor umbrella. She was assessed and refused any further medical attention(Incident #08-190-OF).

Case Update 08-174-OF: Officers were able to determine that the person talking to the student was an employee. Case Closed.

On April 23 at 1:27pm officers responded to the Equestrian Center to assist a student who was injured. She was transported to the Health Center (Incident #08-189-OF).

On April 23 at 9:59am a student reported her bicycle was stolen from the 1837 Hall bike room. The bicycle was unlocked when it was last seen on April 17. Officers on patrol found the bicycle at Pratt Hall a few hours later, and it was returned to its owner (Incident #08-188-OF). Case Closed.

On April 22 at 2:37pm a student reported that her one card was found and turned in to lost and found, but $12.15 that was on the card had been used (Incident #08-187-OF). Case Open.

On April 22 at 12:05am a student reported her camera was stolen from inside her unlocked room in Dickinson Hall (Incident #08-186-OF). Case Open.

On April 21 at 2:10pm a student reported her passport was lost at Brigham Hall a few weeks ago (Incident #08-185-OF).

On April 21 at 10:35am officers responded to the Equestrian Center to assist an Amherst College student who had fallen from a horse. She was assessed and advised to go to the Health Center at Amherst College (Incident #08-184-OF)

Incident #08-183-OF: Incident Not Assigned.

On April 20 at 11:36pm officers were asked to check on the well-being of a student. She was located and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-182-OF).

On April 20 at 3:49pm officers responded to Blanchard Hall to assess a student who choking. She was assessed and transported to the Health Center (Incident #08-181-OF).

On April 20 at 11:40am a student reported her iPod and jewelry was stolen from her room at Dickinson Hall while she was in the bathroom and had left her door unlocked (Incident #08-180-OF). Case Open.

April 13 and April 19:

On April 19 at 6:30pm a student reported receiving several annoying phone calls since mid-March on her cell phone. The calls were from someone unknown to her. The unknown party was spoken to and advised to stop calling the cell phone number (Incident #08-179-OF).

On April 18 at 4:26pm a student reported items were stolen from her room at Dickinson Hall between the dates of April 1 and April 18 while her door was unlocked (Incident #08-178-OF). Case Open.

On April 18 at 1:35am a student reported that she received an obscene phone call on her cell phone (Incident #08-177-OF). Case Open.

On April 17 at 11:41am officers responded to the Athletic Fields to assist a student who was injured. She was transported to the Health Center (Incident #08-176-OF).

On April 16 at 10:19am an employee reported several items missing from her locked office at 8 Park Street (Incident #08-175-OF). Case Open.

On April 15 at 2:17pm officers responded to Torrey Hall for a report of a suspicious male who was asking questions of a student which made her feel uncomfortable. He is described as a middle-aged white male, approximately 5'10" (Incident #08-174-OF). Case Open.

On April 15 at 12:32am a student reported seeing a suicidal post on an off-campus forum. Officers attempted to identify the poster, but were unable to gain any information that would assist (Incident #08-173-OF). Case Open.

On April 13 at 8:28pm a student reported her laptop was stolen from outside her room in Porter Hall between 5:00pm and 8:00pm (Incident #08-172-OF). Case Open.

April 6 and April 12:

On April 12 at 10:22pm officers assessed a visitor who was reported to have become unconscious after jogging. He was assessed and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-171-OF).

On April 12 at 1:56pm officers received a report that a student had hurt her finger in North Mandelle Hall. She was transported to the Health Center (Incident #08-170-OF).

On April 12 at 11:15am a prospective student reported her bag containing her laptop and several other items was stolen. The bag was later reported to be at Ham Hall, and all items were in the bag except a pair of boots (Incident #08-169-OF). Case Open.

On April 12 at 12:09pm a student reported receiving two annoying cell phone call. The calls were from someone unknown to her, and contained some anti-Asian language which this department is investigating as a bias incident (Incident #08-168-OF). Case Open.

On April 11 at 1:05am officers responded to North Mandelle Hall to assist a student who was injured. First aid was rendered, and no further medical attention was necessary (Incident #08-167-OF).

On April 10 at 9:42pm officers working at an event observed a woman lose her balance and fall into a window. The woman left the area with no apparent injuries (Incident #08-166-OF).

On April 10 at 4:44pm a student reported her bicycle was stolen from outside the Everett Wing of the Health Center on March 27 (Incident #08-165-OF).

On April 10 at 4:08pm officers responded to Prospect Hall to assess a student who was ill. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-164-OF).

On April 10 at 4:15pm a student reported her cell phone was stolen from her backpack while it was in Blanchard Hall. It was later returned to the student as it had been turned into the lost and found at Blanchard (Incident #08-163-OF). Case Closed.

On April 10 at 10:34am an employee reported his car tapped a parked car while maneuvering from a tight parking spot. There was no damage to the parked car and very minor damage to the car that was moving from the space (Incident #08-162-OF). Case Closed.

On April 10 at 2:01am officers on patrol conducted a fire drill in Prospect Hall. When they checked the building, a student and her guest were found in a common room and had not vacated the building when the alarm sounded (Incident #08-161-OF). Case Referred to the Deans.

On April 9 at 10:32pm a student reported her iPod was stolen from her room at Porter Hall while she was in the shower and had left her door unlocked (Incident #08-160-OF). Case Open.

On April 9 at 7:45pm a student in Pearsons Hall reported her keys were missing and possibly stolen by a known person (Incident #08-159-OF). Case Open.

On April 9 at 4:50pm officers responded to the Equestrian Center to assist a student who had fallen from a horse. She was assessed and was transported to the Health Center (Incident #08-158-OF).

On April 9 at 3:02pm a student reported that her wallet that had been missing and was turned into lost and found was turned in without $50 cash that was in the wallet (Incident #08-157-OF). Case Open.

On April 9 at 1:12am officers on patrol found a student and a guest in the Ciruti Center after hours (Incidents #08-156-OF). Case Referred to the Deans.

On April 8 at 12:01pm officers were informed of a possible misuse of an out-of-state handicapped placard. The vehicle was towed when the issuing authority confirmed it did not belong with the vehicle (Incident #08-155-OF). Case Open.

On April 8 at 3:36am a student reported that her wallet and other items were stolen from her room in Pearsons Hall, possibly by someone known to her (Incident #08-154-OF). Case Open.

Incident #08-153-OF: Incident Not Assigned.

On April 6 at 5:01pm a college vehicle struck a vehicle exiting the Prospect Lot (Incident #08-5-AC).

March 30 and April 5:

On April 5 at 11:22pm a student reported that on April 3 around 4:00pm someone knocked on her room door in Porter Hall. She opened the door believing it was her neighbor. When she turned around, there was an unknown male at her doorway. He told her she "looked hot," and she closed the door on him. She reported he was a college-aged African-American male, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans, and she believed he may have been with a conference being held on campus (Incident #08-152-OF). Case Open.

On April 5 at 11:23am a student reported her boots were stolen from outside her room in Buckland Hall (Incident #08-151-OF). Case Open.

On April 5 at 12:30am officers received a report that someone had posted an anonymous message on an off-campus chat board that they were suicidal. Officers attempted to identify the poster, but were unable to gain any information that would assist (Incident #08-150-OF). Case Open.

Incidents #08-148-OF, 08-149-OF: Incident Numbers Not Assigned.

On April 2 at 4:53pm officers were asked to check on the well-being of a student. She was located and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-147-OF).

On April 2 at 9:29am officers were asked to check on the well-being of a student. She was located and was determined to be fine. Officers followed up with the reporting party (Incident #08-146-OF).

On April 1 at 10:54pm a student reported her wallet was stolen from Kendall Hall. It was turned in to Public Safety (Incident #08-145-OF). Case Closed.

On April 1 at 6:45pm officers responded to Kendall Hall to assist a student who was injured. The student was assessed then transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-144-OF).

On April 1 at 7:42am officers responded to the Library for a report of people sleeping at this location while the building was closed. The individuals were asked to leave (Incident #08-143-OF).

On March 31 at 5:18pm a student reported that her wallet was stolen or accidentally taken from the Library, possibly after she had it out while using the copier (Incident #08-142-OF). Case Open.

On March 30 at 6:40pm officers received a complaint of several males doing tricks on their bicycles on the stairs between the Ciruti Center and Central Services building. The males were located a short time later, and based on this incident as well as previous incidents, they were trespassed from campus (Incident #08-141-OF). Case Closed.

On March 30 at 2:00am officers responded to Blanchard Hall bus stop to assist a student who appeared to have passed out on the bus. They were able to wake the student, who reported she is a heavy sleeper. She was assessed by officers and the EMTs and determined to be fine (Incident #08-140-OF).

On March 30 at 1:41am officers responded to 1837 Hall were asked to check on a student who appeared distraught and was dressed inappropriately for the weather. The student was located and was assessed then transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-139-OF).


NOTE: This log reflects only incidents reported to Public Safety that occurred on the Mount Holyoke College campus. Incidents involving our students off campus are reflected in the logs of the investigating department.
