Daily Logs January 2008

Below is a listing of all incidents and accidents reported to the Mount Holyoke College Department of Public Safety. Each listing includes the date and time of the report, a description of the incident or accident which includes the location of the event, and a case number and case status. These are provided for the education of the community, as well as to satisfy the requirements of the Federal Right to Know law. Please feel free to call Public Safety at x2304 (or (413) 538-2304) if you have any questions about incidents occurring on campus.
 
 
NOTE: This log reflects only incidents reported to Public Safety that occurred on the Mount Holyoke College campus. Incidents involving our students off campus are reflected in the logs of the investigating department.

January 27 and February 2:

Incident #08-28-OF: Late entry. See Below.

On February 2 at 12:25am officers and the EMTs responded to Willits-Hallowell to assist a student with an injury. First Aid was provided (Incident #08-27-OF).

On February 1 at 6:33pm officers were asked to check on the well-being of a student in 1837 Hall. She was transported to the Health Center (Incident #08-26-OF).

On January 31 at 8:10pm officers and the EMTs responded to Kendall Hall to assist an injured student. She was assessed and was transported to the Health Center (Incident #08-25-OF).

On January 31 at 5:35pm a student reported that a check left on her door was stolen. When she reported this to her bank, the check had been cashed in another state (Incident #08-24-OF). Case Open.

On January 31 at 3:08am officers were asked to do a well-being check on a student in Brigham Hall. She was determined to be safe and was advised to contact the Health Center for further assistance (Incident #08-23-OF).

On January 30 at 7:20am officers responded to Gorse School to assist an employee who had fallen. Officers provided first aid care and referred her for further medical care if necessary (Incident #08-22-OF). Case Closed.

On January 30 at 3:12am officers noticed two people arguing outside Mead Hall. When officers approached, they found the individuals to be a student and her guest; they reported they did not need any further assistance (Incident #08-21-OF). Case Closed.

On January 29 at 3:07pm a student reported that she had some clothing stolen from her room in Dickinson Hall and she saw a student she knows wearing the clothing (Incident #08-20-OF). Referred to the Deans.

On January 29 at 4:37am officers responded with the ambulance to Pearsons Hall to assist a student who was ill. She was transported to the hospital (Incident #08-19-OF).

On January 28 at 7:30pm officers were asked to do a well-being check on a student. She was located and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-18-OF).

On January 28 at 5:07pm officers responded to the Willits-Hallowell Center to assist an employee who had cut her hand. Officers provided first aid care and referred her for further medical care if necessary (Incident #08-17-OF).

On January 28 at 3:40pm a student reported someone had removed most of the pictures from her door in MacGregor Hall (Incident #08-16-OF). Referred to Residential Life.

On January 27 at 2:59am officers responded to Torrey Hall for a report of an intoxicated student. She was assessed and was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-15-OF).

January 20 and January 26:

On January 26 at 7:35pm officers were asked to do a well-being check on a student in Pearsons Hall. She was determined to be safe and was transported to be with a friend (Incident #08-14-OF).

On January 26 at 1:38pm officers received a report that a student's bicycle was stolen from outside Prospect Hall some time since December (Incident #08-13-OF). Case Open.

On January 26 at 7:52am officers were asked to check on the well-being of a student in Abbey Hall. She was determined to be fine (Incident #08-28-OF).

On January 25 at 10:14am a car backing into a space on Skinner Green struck a parked car causing minor damage to the rear bumpers of both vehicles (Incident #08-2-AC).

On January 23 at 10:11pm officers received a report of a suspicious male in Pratt Hall. Officers located an individual fitting the description provided and identified him as an acquaintance of a student who was nearby (Incident #08-12-OF). Case Open.

On January 19 at 3:03am while investigating incident 08-3-AR below, officers received information that there was a second suspect involved in the case who was initially not found. When officers completed the arrest of the first individual involved and returned to the stolen motor vehicle in the Mandelles Lot, the second suspect was hiding in the truck bed waiting for the first individual to return. He was arrested for Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle (Incident #08-5-AR):

On January 19 at 2:51am officers on patrol saw a male standing near a vehicle in the Mandelles Parking Lot. When the male saw the cruiser, he ran away. The vehicle next to which he was standing was still warm and the keys were in the ignition with the vehicle unlocked. When officers ran the plates, they found the vehicle was stolen from Chicopee. Officers were initially unable to re-locate the individual and called the South Hadley Police Department for assistance. He was then located under trees near Morgan and Park Streets. He was arrested for Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle (Incident #08-3-AR):

On January 20 at 9:26am a student reported that her motorized scooter was stolen from in front of Pearsons Hall where it was unlocked. The scooter was last seen in the afternoon of January 19 (Incident #08-11-OF). Case Open.

January 13 and January 19:

On January 19 at 5:13pm officers responded to Mead Hall for a report of an intoxicated student. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #08-10-OF).

Incident #08-9-OF: Incident Not Assigned.

On January 17 at 11:34am officers on patrol noticed a male on campus who had been previously trespassed and arrested. At the same time as he was seen, the department received a complaint that he had been harassing the bus driver. Arrested for Trespassing was (Incident #08-2-AR):

On January 16 at 2:32pm officers received a report that a bookcase being moved was blown off the lift of a truck and onto a parked car causing damage to the parked car. The owner of the parked car was notified (Incident #08-8-OF).

January 6 and January 12:

On January 12 at 12:54am a student in Wilder Hall reported several items were missing from her room during the break. There was another student staying in the room during that time period (Incident #08-7-OF). Case Open.

On January 11 at 3:22pm officers were asked to do a well-being check on a student who was possibly suicidal. She was located with the assistance of South Hadley Police Department and was transported to the hospital (Incident #08-6-OF). Case Closed.

On January 9 at 11:24am officers received a report of an unwanted guest on campus. The person was found and was issued a trespass notice (Incident #08-5-OF). Case Closed.

On January 9 at 8:47am an employee reported damage to two doors in Clapp Hall (Incident #08-4-OF). Case Open.

December 30, 2007 and January 5, 2008:

On January 5 at 1:06pm an employee reported finding a broken window on a vehicle parked in the Kendall Parking Lot (Incident #08-3-OF). Case Open.

On January 4 at 3:30am officers responded to Buckland Hall for a complaint of an odor of marijuana. The occupants of the room reported they had not smoked marijuana. Items found in the room tested positive for marijuana (Incident #08-2-OF) Case Referred to Deans.

On January 1 at 1:05pm officers received a report of annoying behavior by a former Five College student toward an employee (Incident #08-1-OF). Case Open.
