Logs May 2007
- Below is
a listing of all incidents and accidents reported to the Mount
Holyoke College Department of Public Safety. Each listing includes
the date and time of the report, a description of the incident
or accident which includes the location of the event, and a case
number and case status. These are provided for the education of
the community, as well as to satisfy the requirements of the Federal
Right to Know law. Please feel free to call Public Safety at x2304
(or (413) 538-2304) if you have any questions about incidents
occurring on campus.

- NOTE:
This log reflects only incidents reported to Public Safety that
occurred on the Mount Holyoke College campus. Incidents involving
our students off campus are reflected in the logs of the investigating
department.
May
27 and June 2:
On June 2 at
2:25pm officers responded to the area of Kendall Hall for a report
of a person injured by a stick. First aid was provided at the scene
and the injured person's family was transporting him for further
medical attention (Incident #07-187-OF).
On June 1 at
10:14pm officers were asked to do a well-being check on a student.
She was determined to be fine (Incident #07-186-OF).
On May 30 at
10:08am officers responded to 1837 Hall to assist a student who
was injured. She sought further medical treatment on her own (Incident
#07-185-OF).
On May 25 at
11:00am officers received a report that a vehicle parked in Prospect
Lot struck another vehicle while maneuvering in the lot. There was
damage to the front bumper of the parked vehicle (Incident #07-13-AC).
On May 27 at
5:29am officers were asked to check on a woman sleeping in a bathroom
in Wilder Hall. She was located and identified as a student who
had come in late and was resting (Incident #07-184-OF).
May
20 and May 26:
On May 25 at
9:34pm officers received a report from a student that another student
was suicidal. She was located and was transported to the hospital
by ambulance (Incident #07-183-OF).
On May 25 at
3:00pm a student reported her bicycle was stolen from in front of
South Mandelle Hall earlier that day. The bicycle was located at
Porter Hall and the owner was notified (Incident 07-182-OF). Case
Closed.
On May 25 at
7:41am an employee reported damage to college-owned property at
Central Services (Incident #07-181-OF). Case Open.
Incident #07-180-OF:
Incident Not Assigned.
On May 24 at
7:00am an employee reported damage on a college vehicle that occurred
some time recently (Incident #07-179-OF). Case Open.
On May 23 at
10:33am a student reported her bicycle was stolen from in front
of North Rockefeller Hall. The bicycle was not locked when it was
last seen on May 12 (Incident #07-178-OF). Case Open.
On May 22 at
11:45pm a student reported her bicycle was stolen from the South
Mandelle bicycle room since the end of April. The bicycle was locked
when it was last seen (Incident #07-177-OF). Case Open.
On May 21 at
11:37am a student reported her bicycle was stolen from the bike
room in North Mandelle Hall since earlier this semester. The bicycle
was locked when it was last seen (Incident #07-176-OF). Case Open.
May
13 and May 19:
On May 19 at
4:25pm officers responded to Prospect Hall to assist a student who
was injured due to a fall. She was assessed and was transported
to the Health Center (Incident #07-175-OF).
On May 18 at
1:40pm a student reported that a hammock she had hung in a tree
outside Pearsons Hall was stolen between the morning of May 15 and
the afternoon of May 16 (Incident #07-174-OF). Case Open.
On May 18 at
1:23pm a student reported that several items were stolen from a
container left in the hallway at North Rockefeller Hall. A digital
camera was found by another resident and turned in to Public Safety,
though its memory card was missing. Several other items had not
been returned (Incident #07-173-OF). Case Open.
On May 18 at
2:23am officers responded to the Dining Services building for a
smell of natural gas. The Fire Department was requested and they
found no significant accumulation of gas, but several pilot lights
were out. They were re-lit and the area was ventilated and determined
to be safe to re-occupy (Incident #07-172-OF).
On May 16 at
11:15am a student reported her bicycle was stolen from the bicycle
rack outside Ham Hall since March. The bicycle was unlocked when
it was last seen (Incident #07-171-OF). Case Open.
On May 16 at
10:14am officers responded to Kendall Hall for a report of a student
who was injured after falling through a plate glass window. She
was transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #07-170-OF).
On May 15 at
5:01pm a student reported her wallet was stolen from her vehicle
while it was parked behind Brigham Hall between 4pm and 5pm (Incident
#07-169-OF). Case Open.
May
6 and May 12:
On May 12 at
7:11pm officers responded to Ham Hall to assist a student who was
not feeling well. She was assessed and was transported to the hospital
by ambulance (Incident #07-168-OF).
On May 11 at
4:44pm a student reported that her bicycle was removed from the
bike room of MacGregor Hall since early November. The bicycle was
not registered but was locked when last seen (Incident #07-167-OF).
Case Open.
On May 11 at
12:28pm officers responded to the Health Center to assist an employee
who was not feeling well. She was transported to the hospital by
ambulance (Incident #07-166-OF).
CASE
UPDATE 07-162-OF: Officers
were able to determine the parties involved in the banner theft.
They apologized and agreed to reimburse the organization who had
made the banners. The men were also trespassed from campus. Case
Closed.
On May 9 at
8:49pm officers on duty noticed two students smoking what appeared
to be marijuana. The students dropped something on the ground which
later tested positive for marijuana (Incident #07-165-OF). Referred
to the Deans.
On May 8 at
11:36pm officers on duty noticed two students smoking what appeared
to be marijuana from a pipe. The students were identified. The student
in possession of the pipe was arrested; during a search incident
to the arrest officers found prescription pills in her belongings.
The student who was not arrested will be referred to the Deans.

On May 8 at
4:30pm officers responded to South Rockefeller Hall for a report
of a possibly suicidal guest. The guest was evaluated and was determined
to be not at risk (Incident #07-164-OF).
On May 7 at
10:21am officers responded to the construction site for the new
residence hall for a report of an injured contractor. He was transported
by ambulance to the hospital (Incident #07-163-OF).
On
May 6 at 10:41am a student reported that a banner hung on Skinner
Green was stolen between 7:00pm on May 5 and 7:00am on May 6 (Incident
#07-162-OF). Case Closed (see above).
April
29 and May 5:
On May 5 at
9:24pm a student reported a sexual assault that occurred off campus.
Officers are working to assist the victim and the police department
in whose jurisdiction the assault occurred (Incident #07-161-OF).
Case Open.
On May 5 at
1:30pm a student reported that her bicycle was stolen from the South
Mandelle bicycle room this week. The bicycle was unlocked when last
seen. Officers were able to locate the bicycle at South Rockefeller
Hall and returned it to the student (Incident #07-160-OF). Case
Closed.
On May 5 at
2:03am officers and the EMTs responded to Ham Hall for a report
of an intoxicated student. She was assessed and did not need further
care (Incident #07-159-OF).

Case number not assigned.
On May 4 at
1:09pm officers were asked to check on the well-being of a student.
She was found and was transported to the Health Center (Incident
#07-157-OF).
On May 3 at
9:13pm officers were asked to check on the well-being of a student.
She was found and was transported to the Health Center (Incident
#07-156-OF).
On May 3 at
6:27pm a student reported that her iPod and a radio were stolen
from her room in Mead Hall between 4:00pm and 6:00pm (Incident #07-155-OF).
On May 3 at
12:27pm officers were asked to check on the well-being of a student.
She was found and was transported to the Health Center (Incident
#07-154-OF).
On May 2 at
4:52pm officers responded to the Equestrian Center for a report
of a student who fell from a horse. She was assessed and was transported
to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #07-153-OF).
On May 1 at
8:04pm a student reported that her sweatshirt and iPod were stolen
from the dining hall area of Prospect Hall between 7:30pm and 8:00pm
(Incident #07-152-OF). Case Open.
On May 1 at
6:57pm a student reported that her wallet was stolen from the kitchen
in North Mandelle Hall between 8:10am and noon on April 30 (Incident
#07-151-OF). Case Open.
On May 1 at
5:24pm two students reported that several items belonging to a student
organization were stolen from a room in Blanchard Hall (Incident
#07-150-OF). Case Open.
On April 30
at 3:50pm a student in Wilder Hall reported someone removed and
tore several photos that were posted on the door to her room some
time between 11:00am and 12:30pm (Incident #07-149-OF). Case Open.
On April 30
at 2:44pm officers responded to 1837 Hall when three males entered
the building through a locked door. They found the males, who were
in a student's room. The males gave false names, but in a follow
up investigation Public Safety was able to determine their identities;
the males were trespassed them from campus (Incident #07-148-OF).

On April 30
at 11:52am a student reported that several items left on a shelf
in Blanchard Hall for a short time were stolen. Some of the items
were turned in to the lost and found at Public Safety, but several
items remain missing (Incident #07-147-OF). Case Open.
On April 30
at 12:23pm officers responded to Brigham Hall to assess a student
who was not feeling well. She was transported to the Health Center
for treatment (Incident #07-146-OF).
On April 29
at 10:17am officers responded to Pearsons Hall to assist a student
who was ill. She was evaluated and was transported to the Health
Center (Incident #07-145-OF).
On April 29
at 8:20am an employee reported finding what appeared to be paint
from a paint ball gun on the windows of the Prospect Hall kitchen.
A paint ball was also found on the ground outside the window (Incident
#07-144-OF). Case Open.
On April 29
at 1:23am officers and the EMTs responded to Willits-Hallowell Center
for a report of an intoxicated student. She was assessed and was
transported to the hospital by ambulance (Incident #07-143-OF).
