Meeting Minutes October 25, 2005
Attendees: John Bryant, Rick Bigelow, Russ Boudreau, Donnie LaDuke, Nancy Apple, Paul Ominsky, Mary Fanelli
I. Energy Conservation Policy
The draft policy was reviewed and a number of changed made including:
- reference to buildings to be replaced with areas,
- the control system only allows two settings to be called daytime and nighttime and the hours of the policy were adjusted to 2 settings,
- the policy needs to address weekends, times were added for each type of area, and
- the cool down, heat up period associated with the start and end of a heating period should be mentioned.
Last years occupied target temperature was 70 with a range of 68 to 73. The draft policy calls for a target temperature during daytime hours of 70 in residence halls and 68 in academic and administrative areas. In some cases, temperatures in some spaces may be higher to achieve the target in other spaces.
The current practice of provided a short term override shot when heat calls are received at the Central Heating Plant will no longer automatically occur. The space temperature will be checked using the energy management system and additional heat provided only if the applicable temperature is not being met.
The student Environmental Action Coalition (EAC) has agreed to ask for volunteer Energy Coordinators for each residence hall.
II. Other Agenda Items and Next Meeting
Given the lack of time, the remaining agenda items were postponed for discussion at a meeting to be scheduled in November.
