Pharmacy Services
The Health Services does not have a pharmacy. We do have a working relationship with Louis and Clark Pharmacy in Chicopee to deliver prescriptions to the Health Center Monday through Saturday.
Starter Packs Insurance Payment for Prescriptions Pick-up Hours Prescriptions from Home Refills Over the Counter Medications
Starter Packs
Depending on the prescription you need, you may have been given a "starter pack," a 36 hour supply of your prescription. If you received your starter pack before noon on Monday-Saturday, the remainder of your prescription should be at the Health Center by 3:00 PM on the same day. If you received it after noon, it should be at the Health Center by 3:00PM, the next day. (See pick up hours)
Insurance
We need a copy of your insurance information if you wish the pharmacist to process the prescription under your insurance. If you do not have your card with you on the same day, you may submit it by noon on the following day. If you do not submit your insurance card by the next day, your prescription will be processed and the full cost will be charged.
Payment for Prescriptions
One Card The Health Center only accepts the One Card for payment of all prescriptions/copays. You must have money on your card to be given your prescribed medications.
Under the Student Medical Insurance Program there is a copay of $10.00 for generic, $25.00 for brand name, and $45.00 for non-formulary drugs. If prescription coverage is available from another insurance plan, then those copay levels are collected before medication can be given to the student.
Credit card You may also make arrangement with Louis and Clark Pharmacy to have your medications charged to your personal credit card. These arrangements must be made directly with the pharmacy staff.
Pick-up Hours
You may pick-up your prescription Monday-Friday, 9 AM -4:15PM at the front office. Saturday & Sunday, 3-5 PM at the Urgent Care door. No prescriptions will be distributed after these hours unless prior arrangements have been made with the receptionist.
Prescriptions from Home
If you have a medication that is prescribed by your physician at home, there are several arrangements that can be made to have it delivered to the Health Center:
- Have your provider from home call the prescription to Louis and Clark Pharmacy. Be sure they have your insurance information and that they note you want this delivered to the MHC Health Center.
- Have your pharmacy from home, call the prescription to Louis and Clark Pharmacy. Be sure they have your insurance information and that they note you want this delivered to the MHC Health Center.
- Make an appointment to see one of the Health Center clinicians. Bring with you the original prescription or a container of the medication that indicates the details of the prescription.
Once the medication has been prescribed by Louis and Clark, you can call in refills to them as needed. Each time you request a refill, be sure they are aware that you want the medication delivered to the Health Center.
Prescriptions for Adderal, Strattera and Ritalin The staffs of the Health and Counseling Services do not prescribe or manage medications for the treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder. These medications cannot be ordered across state lines. This means that the student either needs to have a supply of medications with her or sent to her. There are a limited number of community providers who accept referrals for management of these medications.
Refills
Once the medication has been prescribed by Louis and Clark, you can order them as needed by contacting them directiy. Each time you request a refill, be sure they are aware that you want the medication delivered to the Health Center.
