Eating Disorders & Body Image

Eating Disorders:
Eating disorders are the extreme expression of a range of weight and food issues experienced by both women and men. They include anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and compulsive overeating. All are serious emotional problems that can have life-threatening consequences.

Body Image:
A woman’s body image encompasses her physical appearance, size, and shape. This image is formed from every experience we have-both positive and negative feedback from people who matter to us. It is also how we perceive the way our body fits into the larger cultural image of beauty.
