Mount Holyoke College
7th Annual Day of Giving

Friday, October 13, 2006
" ..my
daughter..and I had a very good time...volunteering.
Just loved it. Thanks for organizing this event."
Dear Staff, Students, and Faculty of the Mount Holyoke Community,
When is the last time you got to:
Meet your colleagues? …get FREE doughnuts & coffee!? …get
PAID while volunteering? …get a FREE lunch? and end the day
with a sense of good will?!
You can do all of this at the
7th Annual Day of Giving on Friday, October 13, 2006. We
would like to encourage all faculty, staff,
and students to come together in true Mount Holyoke spirit and
volunteer for a day of community service at local non-profit
agencies.
For the past six years, Mount
Holyoke has helped many local community service organizations
including:
WestMass
Elder Care, Kate’s
Kitchen, South Hadley Historical Society, Lewis Perkins Girl Scout
camp, Main Street Shelter in Holyoke, South Hadley Council on
Aging,
and many more. The work/projects include: painting, electrical
repair, plumbing repair, general grounds clean up and more painting.
These
projects are not only rewarding but are a lot of fun with everyone’s
help. So please consider lending us a helping hand this year. Sign
up now!
For employees who are scheduled
to work that day, this time is “paid release time.” However, please coordinate with
your supervisor if you are interested in volunteering so that we
can be sure we don’t interrupt campus services for the day.
On the Day of Giving, work crews will meet at 7:00 a.m. at the
Otto Kohler building and will return to campus by 3:30 p.m. Box
lunches and transportation to the different locations will be provided.
Opportunities are also available if you are only able to participate
for a partial day. However, you will need to provide your own transportation.
The Day of Giving will go on RAIN OR SHINE: dress for the weather
in case you end up working outdoors.
Day of Giving Committee Members thank you in advance for taking
the time to participate:
Angie Chevalier, Facilities Management
Ted Hamel, Facilities Management
Mike Hurley, Facilities Management
Carmen Jimenez, Human Resources
Barbara Pare, Financial Services
Shelley Richard, Financial Services
Lauren Turner, Human Resources
