The Staff Council has been meeting regularly each month since
the beginning of the Fall 2005 semester. Below are some of the
items of interest that have been our agendas.
Coffee Break Gathering
Thursday morning,
November 17th at 9 am in Blanchard Great Room Staff Council is hosting
a presentation
with a question and answer session centered around the proposed
new residence hall. Guest speakers are Mary Jo Maydew, VP for
Finance and Administration; John Bryant, Director of Facilities Management
and Paul Ominsky, Director of Public Safety. They will speak about
the proposed residence hall plans and answer questions.
Web site redesign
Our thanks to Staff Council member
Rosita Nunez, MHC’s web designer Theresa Chamberland, and other
members of Communications and LITS who have helped with the new
format of our web page.
Winterfest
This annual community get together, scheduled
for Thursday, December 15, 2005, is co-sponsored by the Office
of the President and the Staff Council.
Staff Council Retreat
In early October,
the Staff Council held a retreat with
Lauren Turner to set an agenda for the year.
Items discussed at that meeting may be reviewed in the retreat
minutes.
Miscellaneous Items
The following ideas
are being explored: revisions to the computer loan policy;
vacation policy for staff
with services of 20 years or more; a more consistent
compliance with performance reviews; improved procedures for online
voting
for Staff Council; program for providing skate rentals at Blanchard;
Blue Bike program that would recycle, for use on campus, bicycles
left in storage areas that have been long abandoned by their
owners; school closing policy; and several other items.
