Who
gives Notice?
It is important for you as the employer to know that notice can
be given:
- by the injured person himself or by an individual on his
behalf (a dependent, co-worker,
or in the event of death, his
legal representative).
- any doctor, nurse or other emergency
medical personnel employed by the employer for the treatment
of employee injuries and on duty at the work site.
It is recommended that if an employee makes the statement
that he is injured, it may be in the best interest of the employer
to inquire at that time whether or not that injury occurred because
of the employee's work. A policy of this nature will provide protection
for both the employee and the employer and may help reduce the
cost of unnecessary litigation.
