National Survey of Student Engagement
The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) was administered for the first time on campus in the Spring of 2008. This national survey of first-year students and seniors is designed to query undergraduates directly about their educational experiences. NSSE solicits information about student participation in programs and activities offered at institutions of higher education that provide both learning and personal development. The results provide a window into how undergraduates spend their time and what they gain from attending college. Participation in NSSE allows Mount Holyoke not only to assess our own students' engagement but also provides a variety of opportunities to compare our students' experiences with those of our peers. In 2008, 774 colleges and universities participated in NSSE.
