Destruction of Records

General Destruction:

Records that have been determined by the Archives and Special Collection to be non-permanent that fall into either Category 3 or Catagory 4 may be disposed of in standard recycling bins.

Confidential Destruction:

Category1 and Category 2 non-permanent records must be destroyed. Shredding is the best method for destroying these records. Most office shredders do not destroy records adequately.

The College has an agreement with InfoShred to provide confidential destruction of sensitive material. Their bulk rate charge for destruction is far less than the cost of purchasing and maintaining an office shredder. After clearing the destruction of the records with the Archives and Special Collections contact the Purchasing Coodinator at: x2041 and arrange for a pickup.
