Grant submission steps

The 7 steps to submitting an external grant application

 
 
1. Identify a good project (i.e., intellectually-based, hypothesis-driven, etc.)
 
 
2. Identify the appropriate funding source/program (by reading the program descriptions). COS Funding Opportunities.

3. Contact the Director of Sponsored Research Sirkka Kauffman as soon as possible, especially where college matching, cost-sharing, or in-kind contribution is involved.

4. Write a proposal according to the guidelines spelled out in the program announcement.

5. Construct a budget and get approval by Linda Niemczura (lniemczu) or Jan Albano (jalbano) of Treasury Operations.

6. Obtain signature of the Director of Sponsored Research Sirkka Kauffman, who will then submit for signature to the Dean of Faculty.

7. In general, it takes about 9 months to a year to hear the outcome of your application.
