Sherry Tucker is the Advisor to the Protestant Community.  She is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ (UCC).  The UCC has an impressive history of social justice work, such as the congregationalists' early stand against slavery, ordination of the first woman pastor in 1853, and the resolution for marriage equality in 2005.

Sherry facilitates study and reflection groups during the semester.  The Protestant Community is active on and off campus with campus community service projects, such as food drives for local shelters and facilitating staff appreciation brunches. 

Sherry is the former minister of the Mary Lyon Church of Buckland, Ma and a current Pastor of the Church of Christ, UCC in Granby.  She also has a background of fifteen years of teaching in public schools and at the community college level.  With an undergraduate degree in English, Sherry has a passion for the classic texts from which she often draws from in her sermons.  Her particular favorites include T.S. Elliot and C.S. Lewis.  As a parent of three adult children, Sherry feels empathetic towards issues often faced by college age students.  She offers pastoral counseling to any student who may wish to drop by and talk. 

Sherry is pleased to represent the Protestant Community as a part of an Interfaith department where each faith group is valued and nurtured.  She believes that this environment encourages understanding and friendship between those of different faiths. Sherry's personal interests including reading, travel, tennis and family time.
