SHRI Weekly Dinner

The Sisters of Hinduism Reaching Inwards group convenes every Thursday evening for puja and dinner, and are very welcoming to visitors.  The Sisters chant beautiful, age-old prayers in the Hindu Prayer room in Eliot House.  The shrine includes images of Ganesha, Vishnu, and Krishna, and among the gods and goddesses on the wall is Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music, and the arts.  This weekly gathering is a place for community and spirituality.

Puja is followed by a feast of various dishes, most of them student prepared.  Such entrees may include a chick pea curry, pallau (rice with herbs and nuts), and raita, a yoghurt-based dish, which is provided to quell the spiciness of other dishes.  Pizza was also served, courtesy of Leslie Fraser and her students that were visiting.  Dinner provides a more casual environment for discussion and friendship.
