Staff
Director of Residential Life Rene Davis The director of Residential Life oversees all aspects of residential life on campus, including training and supervision of Residential Life staff, housing assignments, hall programming, and long-range planning. The director also coordinates work with Housekeeping, Facilities Management, Public Safety, Dining Services, academic deans, and faculty and works closely with the Dean of Students office. In addition, the director works with violations of the honor code and college policy.
Associate Director Bill Boerner The associate director assists the director with the overall operation of the Residential Life office. In addition, the associate director manages the first-year assignment process, room change requests, the singles lottery, general room changes, off-campus housing, and the annual housing lottery. The associate director participates in the dean on-call rotation and respond to emergency and crisis situations.
Assistant Directors Elisa Del Valle, Julia Golden, and Maggie Lichter The assistant directors (ADs) are professional, full-time, live-in staff. These staff members are responsible for overseeing five to seven residence halls and advising and supervising the Hall Committee members who lead and work in their respective halls. The ADs promote and create educational and social programs for residence halls in several areas, such as race and diversity, health and wellness, and living and learning. They adjudicate violations of campus policy and participate in the dean on-call rotation. These staff members live in apartments in Buckland, MacGregor, and Pearson Halls. Administrative Assistant Teresa Picard
Hall President The hall presidents (HPs) are student staff who serve as chief administrators of the residence halls. HPs are typically in their junior and senior year and act as a link to the Office of Residential Life. There is one hall president per residence hall. As members of the residential life staff, HPs coordinate hall meetings, advise student advisers, and assist in the initiating programs in the residence hall. HPs meet weekly with the student advisers to address hall and individual student concerns. Each HP is trained as a peer counselor and can provide resource and referral information to all students in the hall.
Student Adviser The student advisers (SAs) are student staff who serve as peer advisers to members of their floor. There are three to six SAs in each residence hall. Each SA is responsible for the general welfare of the floor. SAs are tpically sophomores and juniors, and are trained as a peer advisers in community development, programming, limits setting, various health-related issues, and interpersonal skills. Along with these skills, SAs are knowledgeable about campus and resources and will make referrals as necessary. Most importantly, the SA is available to each member of the floor for peer support. SAs are selected for their desire to work with other students and create a positive living experience for others.
