For First-Year and Transfer Students
Each year Mount Holyoke admits a carefully selected, diverse group of academically strong and talented students. The College is prepared to help these students and their families manage the cost of a Mount Holyoke education.
While Mount Holyoke expects families to assume the primary financial responsibility for their daughter's education and to contribute to the maximum level of their ability, we have a long tradition of meeting the full demonstrated need of all admitted students who demonstrate eligibility for financial aid. The following forms are required to apply for financial aid:
1. College Scholarship Service (CSS) PROFILE
- Mount Holyoke College School Code is 3529.
- File online via CollegeBoard.
- You may use estimated information to complete the PROFILE form to meet the priority deadline.
- Upon completing the CSS PROFILE application, you will be sent an email with instructions for completing the IDOC (Institutional Document Service) Cover Sheet by the College Board. You will use the IDOC cover sheet to submit your 2007 federal income tax return, ALL schedules and forms, and W-2s. If you or your parents own corporations, partnerships or trusts, please include copies of those tax returns (Forms 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120S, K-1). Follow the instructions on the IDOC Requirements Document and mail your remaining application materials to the College Board with the cover sheet.
2. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Mount Holyoke College School Code is 002192.
- Free online Application for Federal Student Aid.
- Students are encouraged to file online to expedite processing and reduce errors. The paper FAFSA can take 3-4 weeks to reach Mount Holyoke after it is filed.
- Please note: The FAFSA for academic year 2008-2009 cannot be filed until after January 1, 2008.
- You may use estimated information to complete the FAFSA form to meet the priority deadline.
3. Signed Parent and Student 2007 Federal Tax Returns, W-2 forms, and all schedules
- Submit the most recent tax returns to the College Board using the IDOC cover sheet as highlighted above. Include all forms and schedules. Make sure all federal tax returns are signed.
- Please do not send state tax returns.
- Please note that a financial aid package may change upon review of current-year federal tax returns.
- You may use estimated information to complete the PROFILE and FAFSA forms to meet the deadlines.
Student Financial Services will not accept these documents directly. Please do not mail or fax tax documents to the school because they will be shredded. It is mandatory that you mail your forms to IDOC.
4. Supplemental Forms
Additional forms are required only if the student or parent owns a business or farm, or if the student's parents are divorced/separated, or were never married. If either of your parents is self-employed or owns any part of a business or farm, he/she will need to submit a Business/Farm Supplement for each business or farm in which any interest is held. This document is submitted to the College Board, not to Mount Holyoke College.
- Business/Farm Supplement (PDF) (After submitting the CSS PROFILE, the College Board will email the student with instructions and a link to the Business/Farm Supplement.)
- Non-Custodial Parents PROFILE (After submitting the CSS PROFILE, if applicable, the College Board will email the student with instructions and a link to the Non-Custodial Parents PROFILE.)
- Non-Custodial parent 2007 signed federal tax returns, all forms and schedules, using an additional IDOC cover sheet as highlighted above.
