Direct Subsidized and Direct Unsubsidized Loans *

*These are the maximum amounts that you can borrow for a full academic year (beginning July 1, 2007). For periods of study that are shorter than an academic year, the maximum amounts you can borrow may be less. Student Financial Services will determine the specific amounts that you are eligible to borrow.

**When you apply for federal student aid, your answers to certain questions will determine whether you're considered dependent or independent. See Funding Education Beyond High School:  The Guide to Federal Student Aid  or Student Financial Services for more information.

***All graduate/professional students are considered independent.

Only need based loan eligibility is listed in an initial financial aid package.  If the loan amount listed on Financial Aid Online is less than the maximum allowed for your grade level (as indicated above), you may borrow the additional amount in a non-need based (unsubsidized) Federal Direct Student Loan (FDSL).  If you plan to apply for additional FDSL, please complete an Additional Federal Direct Student Loan Request and return it to Student Financial Services.
