Laboratory
Safety
The
goal of the Laboratory Safety program at Mount Holyoke is to create
and maintain a safe and healthful teaching and research environment,
teach safe practices, and promote safety awareness. To accomplish
this goal, the College requires that students, staff, faculty and
visitors adhere to the safety policies and procedures established
by the Science Safety Handbook. Many departments and faculty members
establish additional, or more specific, safety requirements for
their laboratories. The Safety Handbook addresses chemical safety,
biological safety, radiation safety, use of machine tools, and requirements
for waste disposal. It also establishes administrative procedures
for training, exposure monitoring and medical evaluation.
