Taboo: eXtreme Dialogs
~ extreme dialogues ~

Students, Faculty, Staff and community members are all welcome.

No homework, no prep, just REAL conversations!

These "hot topic" dialogues incorporate techniques designed, developed, and facilitated by the Office of Residential Life, Student Programs, the Counseling Center, Eliot House, and Dean of Students. Other staff, faculty, and student guest facilitators occasionally join the session.

At a TABOO dialogue, every effort is made to make space so that all personal perspectives on a topic can be shared. It's a "safe space, uncomfortable zone." A healthy place to explore ideas and feelings. These dialogues are "one-offs" (you dont' need to enroll, or come for multiple sessions).  You can participate once or often. For another kind of powerful dialogue experience consider committing to the 8 week Intergroup Dialogue Intensives offered each semester.

To suggest a topic or recommend a facilitator drop an email to us - Taboo.

TABOO: Do Black and Yellow Mix?
What has U.S. History done to create tensions and perpetuate strained relationships between some people in Black and Asian communities? Are there significant differences in various communities? How do mainstream stereotypes get in the way of forming meaningful relationships across color lines? How do they impact families? Do you feel uncomfortable trying to negotiate personal or professional connections 'across these color lines'? Where does your discomfort come from? What is the case for folk who belong to both (or neither) of these communities? .
